I would like to refer to an exhibition I visited a couple of years ago as I believe there are many elements I want to comment about and that they would help me on my own explorations of drawing through this course and my parallel project. (http://www.elenatsigaridou.com/2015-circles-made-up-of-cubes.html, http://www.elenatsigaridou.com/2015-circles-made-up-of-cubes-exhibition.html, http://www.cyprusevents.net/events/elena-tsigaridou-larnaca-2015/).
The paintings are mainly portraits or figures of children placed among geometrical shapes and lines. The figures are presented in a detailed , realistic and descriptive mostly monochrome way with pencil. The surroundings are constructed with mainly red and blue colour. Thread is also used woven in the painting. At certain cases a red line is extended on the gallery wall.
For the artist this work is a journey of self awareness and experimentation through childhood as a way to convey with honesty her own truth.(http://www.skalatimes.com/2015/10/15/%CE%BF%CE%B9-%CE%BA%CF%8D%CE%BA%CE%BB%CE%BF%CE%B9-%CE%B1%CF%80%CF%8C-%CE%BA%CF%8D%CE%B2%CE%BF%CF%85%CF%82-%CF%84%CE%B7%CF%82-%CE%AD%CE%BB%CE%B5%CE%BD%CE%B1%CF%82-%CF%84%CF%83%CE%B9%CE%B3%CE%B1%CF%81/).
My subject for my parallel project, is also a journey of self awareness through exploring relationships with significant others and with different parts of my self that I would like to reconnect in order to end up to a more solid identity. I would include my childhood in this exploration through my children’s relationship with me and through my identification with them.
In addition to the subject’s relation, in some of my works I find similarities with Tsigaridou’s work in methods. In my work for project 4 of Part 3, I also used geometrical shapes and lines. I did this in order to symbolically represent the setting of limits of oneself as apart of the self identities exploration.

Also I used thread in the works that I explored my connections with my children as a way to represent the bonds that unite us as well as their own route as they are separated from me.
